At least eleven abduction victims have escaped and one has been rescued by police from terrorists in the Katsina metropolis.
Residents told Channels Television that the terrorists invaded the city at around 2:00 a.m. Wednesday and operated for nearly two hours in the Shagari Low Cost and Sokoto Rima districts of the state capital.
According to residents, the terrorists, about twenty, looted the communities before finally taking their victims in the village of Nasarawa-Bugaje in the neighboring Jibia local government area of the State.
Three of the victims who escaped were simply identified as Mas’udu Musa, Abubakar Aminu and Abdulhadi Sa’adu, who are mostly local security personnel, told Channels Television that the terrorists had invaded the communities barefoot. The attackers, armed with advanced weapons, also wore security personnel uniforms.

It was said that the hooded men on their arrival were looking for a member of parliament who did not exist in the area. The gunmen, however, insisted on being taken home.
At first, the terrorists tied the hands of eleven people who had been accidentally arrested from different locations and grazed them in a house belonging to a well-to-do man, Abdullahi Esha, M, from the Sokoto Rima Quarters, Katsina, where the newlyweds were abducted. His 18-year-old wife, a Walida Abdul-Aziz Maigoro.
“Their goal (terrorists) was to kidnap the wife of a rich man in the Sokoto rima district, Katsina,” one of the victims learned.
A community leader in Shagari Low-Cost, whose name was not released, said efforts were under way to strengthen the security network in the area.
He said one of the residents, who is a doctor, had evacuated his entire family due to the attack this morning in a safer place in Kano State.
The incident was confirmed by the Police Administration of the State of Katsina. Police spokesman SP Gambo Isah said the incident occurred when a group of terrorists, armed with AK-47 rifles, attacked the home of Abdullahi Lawal Esha, M, from Sokoto Rima Quarters, Katsina, and abducted his wife.
According to him, the Anti-Kidnapping Police Unit of the administration and patrol teams were immediately sent to the area and chased the hooded men.
“The groups had a fierce duel with the terrorists that made them flee and abandon their heinous mission.
“The team then managed to rescue the victim, an 18-year-old Walida Abdulaziz Maigoro, ‘F’, without being injured,” he added.
