Videos of Ethiopians burning civilians Ethiopia’s government said on Saturday it would take action against the perpetrators following a video released by the media showing armed men, some in military uniforms, consuming civilians in the west of the country.
Ethiopia’s government communications service said in a statement on its Facebook page that the incident took place in Ayisid Kebele in the Metekel area of Benishangul-Gumuz, a site of regular ethnic violence for more than a year where many regular people had kicked the bucket.
“A terrible and cold demonstration was dedicated to the last… In an evolution of terrible images that circulated through the internet, innocent citizens were sung to death,” the claim said.
He did not say when the incidents took place or who was responsible. “Regardless of their starting point or personality, the public authority will take legal action against those responsible for this clean and unconscious demonstration.”
Reuters could not control the overall setting where the video was recorded or the activities it displayed.
In the video, a portion of the men in the group are wearing Ethiopian military uniforms as well as shelves from other territorial security forces.
Military spokesman Colonel Getnet Adane and government spokesman Legesse Tulu did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
The evil in the Benishangul-Gumuz region, which hosts some ethnic gatherings, is isolated from the conflict in the northern Tigray region that broke out in November 2020 between the Ethiopian government forces and the disobedient forces of the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TF).
