How much does BCCI charge for IPL TV viewing?

According to people, the online auction for the media rights of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is in progress and the combined bid for both digital and television is close to 45,000-50,000 crore.

The online auction started on Sunday morning, with the Indian Cricket Audit Board (BCCI) selling IPL media rights over a five-year period from 2023-2027.

There are four specific packages in which an online auction is held for 74 sports per season. However, there are plans to increase the number of games to 94 in the last two years of the marquee T20 tournament.

The four groups include Package A, which contains the exclusive television (broadcasting) rights of the Indian subcontinent, while Package B includes the digital rights of the Indian subcontinent.

Package C is for selected sports each season, while Package D is for all sports – TV and digital rights – for overseas markets.

Although tech giants Amazon, Google and Apple have pulled out of the race, offers from players such as Disney-Star, Sony and Viacom18 have no effect on the overall value, who are fighting aggressively for Package A. B, reported informed sources. The winner will be announced on Monday.

For example, the bid price per race is already estimated to have exceeded 100 crore, which is important, experts said.

Unlike the previous round, which was a closed auction in 2017, the online auction allows bidders to exit the process at any stage.

The methodology is simple – bid higher than the current bid or output. However, industry experts say bidders should do their own research to determine how high they can reach with their bids.
