He may be better known as Fifty Shades Of Gray, but Jamie Dornan became a cowboy for his recent birthday antics.

The actor celebrated his 40th birthday with a wild west themed party and even had a series on a buffalo rodeo.

Jamie hosted the bash with his wife Amelia Warner as they both celebrated their recent birthday milestone with family and friends.

In a video posted on Jamie’s Instagram page from the party last month, Jamie is seen wearing a cowboy hat and a brown suede jacket as he tries to tame a rodeo bull.

In voices and applause from his friends, the screen star manages to hold on for a few seconds before a spectacular fall.

And the couple is not worried about making it big 4-0, with Jamie’s wife, Amelia, telling the Daily Mail’s Richard Eden: “People who feel funny when they’re 40, I tell them, ‘Don’t do it. It is the best’.’

“We had a big party together and it was the best experience. “There is something about this birthday that I felt so happy and celebratory.”

Jamie recently revealed his own he risked scaring his future wife, whom he married in 2009, wearing a Christmas sweater on their first date.

The actor wore the bulky knit even though he was in sunny Los Angeles in February.

“I was worried he would not remember me,” the actor explains.

“I felt I had to make myself unforgettable.

“And I still remember seeing her reaction when she opened the door. “I could tell she understood my meaning and she liked it, even though she probably thought I was a little weird.”

In April, Jamie took to Instagram to share a rare family photo to celebrate International Women’s Day.

The star posted a snapshot of his loved ones – his wife Amelia, 40, and their three daughters Dulci, eight, Elba, six and Alberta, three – as they crossed the street.

He wrote in the caption of his post: “I am just a pile of dust without this crew. #internatinalwomensday. ‘
